Most married couples will agree that getting the perfect wedding picture is of paramount importance on their big day.
So the poor couples featured in a wedding special on the Awkward Family Photos website must be devastated that the worst pictures from their nuptials have been made public for all to see.
As the online gallery name implies, author Mark Juddery's selection provokes a cringing response.

Oh Maria! One bride featured among the wedding pictures on AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com took her style lead from the Sound Of Music, dressing her bridesmaids in a fabric that matched the curtains
Suits hue: Though this bride decided to dress her entire wedding party in a burgundy and mauve colour scheme, her beau still married her. That's love

Whether they are intentional, like the all-velour-clad wedding party, or unintentional, like the swan that claearly wants a bite of the bride's bouquet, they are all hilarious.

A favourite, which is (hopefully) from the late Seventies or early Eighties, features a bride who appears to have taken her style lead from the Sound of Music, dressing her bridesmaids in a fabric that matches the curtain in the background.
Another example from the style category features a woman who insisted on dressing the entire wedding party in a colour combination of mauve and burgundy. Even she found it funny, submitting the photo to Mr Juddery's site herself.

Decapitated: The bride, who stood less than 5ft, chose much taller bridesmaids to support her on her big day. It proved a problem in photos, but the photographer came up with a simple, if artless solution
'The hubby wasn't too sure about what he was in for. Needless to say, it has been a great ride. 25 years and counting''Mom & Dad wedding 1984. Wedding photos just aren't what they used to be'
Blast from the past: One photographer superimposed the bride's image onto a profile shot of the groom, in an overly creative post-production session (left). In another, the groom appears to be wondering what he's done
She wrote: 'I have never lived down the fact that for some reason I chose a burgundy and mauve color scheme for my November wedding.
'But even harder to live down…the fact that I made our best man, my new father-in-law and my very unhappy father (on the end) wear those fabulous tuxedos with pink ruffled shirts! Not to mention the awesome fan/flower bridesmaids bouquets.'
Sometimes it is the photographer at fault, like the one who was so interested in taking the bride's picture, she decapitated all of the woman's much-taller bridesmaids.
The white stuff: A swan appears to want to be the next to marry as it makes a beeline for the bride's bouquet

Shotgun wedding: One couple were given a surprise gift at their wedding reception by the bride's father. Cue a photo to mark the moment and an eternity of jokes about why they may have married

The person who sent the picture, one of the bridesmaids in question, explained: 'I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding. She’s right under 5ft tall. Her mom apparently didn’t care about capturing the beauty of the rest of us.'
Another photographer took the liberty of superimposing the bride's image onto a profile shot of the groom, in an overly creative post-production session.
While another insisted on making the wedding party do 'creative' poses - resulting in one best man being forced to clutch the bride's breast.

The decades that style forgot: One couple went for an unconventional sporting theme (left), while another has the entire bridal party dressed in velour (right). Juicy Couture, we're sure, would approve
The bride, who submitted the picture, wrote: 'Our photographer was all about odd shots. In this one the groomsmen picked me up and the bridesmaids held my husband... In the process of picking me up my cousin went to grab me and got me all right…right on the boob!
'In the video you can hear me going "TODD HAS MY BOOB!"'
Another photo faux pas occurred when the bride's father decided to gift the newlyweds with a pair of shotguns at the reception. The family took a picture to mark the occasion, offering an opportunity for a lifetime of jokes about their 'shotgun wedding'.
Caught in the moment: This bride can't even remember why she was pulling this face, but she appears to be disgusted by what she has just done. Her poor groom is oblivious

Our church would not allow pictures during the ceremony (in 1986), so restaging our vows was the perfect opportunity for our best man to be a comedianAwkwardfamilyphotos.com
Picking their moments: A happy couple are oblivious to the cattle that seem to be considering a stampede (left). And a best man chose to wind up the groom in the middle of his wedding vows (right)

Creative licence: This photographer insisted on making the wedding party do what the bride called 'odd' poses - resulting in one best man being forced to clutch her breast - much to her embarrassment
Writing on the Huffington Post, Mr Juddery said: 'With that kind of pressure come lot of awkward moments and fortunately, the wedding photographer is there to capture them all.'
The blogger's latest venture is set to be just as popular. A new site, called Squabbler.com allows users to settle their everyday debates.
They upload thirty second arguments, then viewers of the site vote on who they think is right.
