Football team pulled over for autograph

Autograph /Europics
Football stars have told how they were pulled over by a police car with sirens blaring - so they could sign autographs for a besotted WPC.
German Bundesliga side Hamburger SV were in the team coach on the way to a match when they were forced off the motorway by traffic cops.
But instead of a ticket, all they got was a demand from a blonde female officer for hunky star striker Mladen Petric's autograph.
"All the other players were smiling. I thought they were taking the p***, so I didn't move at first," he said.
"Eventually I realised they really wanted me to go to the front. When I got there a young policewoman told me she was a big fan of mine, got out her autograph book and asked for my autograph," said Petric.
The bizarre demand emerged when the club Tweeted the encounter with a picture after the match.
"Our team bus stopped by the police because cop wanted an autograph," they said on Twitter.

Software firm wants naked web coders

Nude House workers /Ext
A Buckinghamshire computer software company is looking to recruit female web coders who are prepared to work naked.
Nude House, where staff work as nature intended in a "warm and private" naturist office environment in Amersham, also wants naked male and female sales staff.
Company spokesman Chris Taylor told The Register: "As far as I am aware this is not only the first UK office job for naturists in web-coding or web-selling, but is also the first worldwide facility for naturists to earn substantial sums of money from work that incidentally provides them with the capability to work entirely without clothes.
"Because it is the first establishment in the world it is difficult to advertise - many seem to confuse the issue of being without clothes as being a place without concerns for personal freedom, where sex is paramount in its many varied forms.
"Sex does not play a part in naturism - yes one is aware of differences in sex and size and shape and age of everyone, but the concern is on sales and technical ability, not availability."
Mr Taylor admitted that a naturist office offers "no benefit to business productivity other than providing a nice facility for the staff".
There's no benefit for customers, either, since they'll "never know that the provider is nude".
The company website says: "New applicants will be required to work in the nude from the time they arrive at work until they leave to go home.
"Nude means no clothes whatsoever and no shoes either. All new applicants will be naturists and could be males or females."
Nude House has a sister company - Songbird - where staff peform exactly the same tasks but fully clothed.

New York City attempts to outlaw McDonald's Happy Meals...

24-stone politician seeks to ban McDonald's Happy Meals

A 24-stone politician is trying to ban McDonald's from selling Happy Meals in New York City because he claims they encourage children to eat too much fat.

Leroy Comrie, a city council member, will on Wednesday propose a bill that would prevent restaurants from giving away toys with meals containing more than 500 calories and 600mg of sodium.
The measure would effectively outlaw the Happy Meal, the boxed meal for children with a free toy that has been a staple of McDonalds's menu for more than 30 years, across the city.
Most varieties of Happy Meal exceed Mr Comrie's nutritional limits, which also demand that no more than 35 per cent of a meal's calorie content comes from fat. Some options contain about 1,000 calories.
The move by Mr Comrie, a Democrat from Queens, has raised eyebrows because he is thought to weigh about 24 stones himself. He has described himself as "an example" of poor eating habits.
"The City Council can empower parents by making it harder for the fast food industry to target children with predatory marketing techniques," he said.
McDonald's said the measure "would not solve childhood obesity".
A spokesman said: "We provide options for our customers and trust them to make the decisions that are right for their families. Politicians should too."
The New York Restaurant Association said the bill would "rob parents of choice while increasing the already burdensome regulation on local restaurant owners".
Last November politicians in San Francisco passed a similar law placing restrictions on meals with free toys. Their measure allowed 100 more calories and 40g more sodium than the New York bill.

Barking mad!!.... dog wedding cost over £20,000

Barking! Dog owner spends £20,000 on Britain's most expensive pet wedding

The bride wore a white dress decorated with 1,800 Swarovski crystals and accessorised with a pearl necklace.
And as she trotted into the room to the wedding march, played by a harpist, she was met by the groom, smartly dressed in a tuxedo.
Afterwards, 80 guests enjoyed a sumptuous buffet in a marquee adorned with £4,000 of flowers, balloons and decorations.

Louise Harris, left, with Bev Nicholson and Chinese Crested Mugly, right, threw a wedding for her pet terrier Lola after running a competition on Facebook to find a suitor
But this was no ordinary wedding. The happy couple were two pampered dogs who were married in a ceremony in the grounds of a mansion in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, costing an extraordinary £20,000.
The event was planned by the bride’s owner, Louise Harris, 32, who dotes on six-year-old Yorkshire Terrier Lola and wanted to find her a partner to stop her getting lonely.
‘I wanted Lola to have the perfect day,’ said Miss Harris, who owns a dog boutique and grooming parlour near her two-bedroom flat in Chelmsford.

‘It was meant to be a relatively small affair with 30 guests but the list just kept getting bigger and bigger because I didn’t want to leave anyone out – just like most weddings, I guess.
‘The day was perfect from start to finish and Lola loved being the centre of attention all day.’
Miss Harris ran an online competition to find the perfect partner for Lola, as the dog’s younger siblings Lulu, four, and Larry, two, are very close and often ignore her.
She received hundreds of responses, whittled them down to a shortlist of six, and after a series of meetings found Lola’s favourite was Mugly – a Chinese crested dog who was voted Britain’s ugliest hound in 2005.

For the couple’s first date, Miss Harris took Lola to visit Mugly and his owner, mother-of-four Bev Nicholson from Eastfield, Peterborough.
Miss Harris said: ‘They do say opposites attract and they played happily together all day. I thought he was the perfect husband for Lola.’ Next came three months of preparation – with the help of a wedding planner – before the ceremony and reception in September.
Lola’s £1,000 dress was created by dog clothes designer Michele Ochs. It was accompanied by Swarovski leg cuffs costing £250 and a £350 crystal lead.

Extras: Lulu acted as Lola's bridesmaid in a £100 dress by Latimer Couture, complete a £200 Swarovski crystal necklace and £150 head dress and Larry was page boy wearing a £100 tux
Lulu was bridesmaid in a £100 dress and a £200 Swarovski crystal necklace, while Larry wore a £100 tuxedo in his role as page boy.
Mugly, meanwhile, got his more modest outfit from auction site eBay.
After the ceremony, dog and human food was laid on, including a six-foot chocolate fountain, and the dogs’ owners made speeches wishing the happy couple good luck for the future.
Despite the bond between the two pets, Miss Harris revealed they will have to learn to cope with a long-distance relationship as Mugly still lives with his owner and only gets to see Lola once a month.

'It was a great day and we had a great time but I don't want to do it again again time soon, so Lulu and Larry best not get any ideas!

What a M-ugg... cop buys high price Uggs out of police funds.

Cop used police cash to buy Ugg boots

A US police sergeant was fired for using funds from his department's uniform account to purchase Ugg slippers as a gift for his wife.
Sergeant Michael Kurland, from the Brookline Police Department in southern New Hampshire, had claimed he was reimbursing himself for an out-of-pocket purchase for the town's drug prevention program, when it was learned the purchase was actually for the pricey designer footwear, WMUR-TV said.
When the town's police chief, William Quigley, confronted Sergeant Kurland about the illegitimate expense, he was reportedly less than forthcoming, the report said.
Sergeant Kurland was placed on administrative leave in December and last night, the town's Board of Selectmen voted to fire him for the offence.
"If Sergeant Kurland had simply provided that detail, admitted to what he had done right away, we probably wouldn't be here," said selectman Tad Putney at the hearing.
"I don't think today was any resemblance of justice of any kind," Sergeant Kurland said after the hearing.
"We have an officer who gives years and years of service to his community. The support through the hearings was obvious; a new chief comes in, and all of a sudden this happens. I think it's obvious what's going on," Sergeant Kurland's lawyer Raymond Mello said after the board's decision.

Irwin the kangaroo wears pyjamas to bed and a suit around town...

Meet Irwin the kangaroo, who likes his creature comforts

Irwin likes the finer things in life. He is chauffeured around town, likes to wear a suit and sleeps in a comfortable bed. Trouble is, Irwin’s a kangaroo.

The one-year-old great red kangaroo has free reign of owner Christie Carr’s home.
Weighing 11kg (25lb), he is dressed in human clothes and sleeps in her bed at night. ‘He’s always stealing my pillow,’ she said.
Irwin, named in honour of the late Australian wildlife lover Steve Irwin, ran into a fence and fractured his neck as a joey. Since then he has been cared for by Ms Carr, who was working at her local animal shelter in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
‘Putting clothes on Irwin protects his skin from harm. And I have to admit it looks  pretty cute too,’ said the 39-year-old.

When they go out, Irwin is carried in a sling, pushed in a pram or placed in a child’s car seat.
He is also a regular visitor at the local nursing home. ‘They love to hold him and stroke him. He brings a lot of joy to people, young and old,’ Ms Carr added.
Vets believe Irwin, who is partially paralysed, will not get much bigger than 22kg (3st 5lb) or 91cm (3ft) – about half that of a normal kangaroo.

But town mayor Mike Lester is concerned what could happen if Irwin regained full  mobility and officials may recommend he be taken away from Ms Carr.
‘I would rather move state or country than give him up. He’s my best friend,’ she said.
