Brewers battle over busty barmaid
A battle has broken out between brewers in lager-loving Germany over whether a barmaid is entitled to be crowned the Queen of Beer.
Julia Aschenbrenner, 19, was awarded the title by Bavarian brewers Bischofshof and began touring the region in traditional Alpine dress.
But other brewers sued her bosses saying she was just an advertising stunt - and had no right to represent the whole Bavarian region of Upper Palatinate.
Now the bitter battle has been settled by the region's highest appeal court judges who ruled that Julia can keep her crown.
They decided that ordinary drinkers would not be confused by the title and would realise that she was being paid to promote a specific brewery.
Now rival brewers Hofmark have been forced to scrap plans to introduce their own princess of ales.
Manager Burkhardt Cording said: "We shouldn't have rival majesties - it wouldn't do the beer market any good."
