Wig snag may limit blonde ambition
Plans to create an island holiday resort staffed only by blonde women has run into trouble at the first hurdle.
Lithuanian company Olialia plans to construct the luxury resort on a man-made island shaped like a high-heeled shoe in the Maldives.
But Maldivian laws stipulate that at least 50% of any foreign company's staff must be from the local population, reports Metro.
And while there is no shortage of blondes in Lithuania, very few locals from the Indian Ocean atolls have blonde hair.
Brand manager Lauryna Anuseviciut said Olialia are going to get around problem by ensuring employees with dark hair wear wigs.
"Staff who are not blonde will wear a blonde wig to make everyone look similar," she said.
Ms Anuseviciute says the plans are at an early stage but claims financial backing has already been secured.
The Maldivian government says it cannot comment as it has yet to receive an official proposal of the plans.
