Battle of the beards
The champions won it by a whisker - when their facial hair scooped the official European Beard and Moustache Championships.
The winners - plucked from around 150 proud beard and moustache owners from eight countries - competed in different classes including "full natural" and anything goes "freestyle."
Only one hairy moment spoiled the event when a losing Italian team tried to get the event declared void after claiming Italy had invented the sport in the 1970s and failed to recognise new rules.
"Men with beards and big moustaches look very manly and this sort of squabbling is unbecoming in men of hair," said one official at the event, held high in the Austrian Alps in the small town of Leogang.
