Sili village changes its name....

Sili name must be changed, say villagers

Residents living in the small Welsh village of Sili have voted to change the name after becoming the target of too many silly jokes.

The villagers have had enough of the sniggers over the Welsh name for the village known more commonly as Sully, and have voted to have it changed.
The ridicule apparently started when new bilingual signs were put up at the entrance to the village.
Resident Andrew Marsh told WalesOnline.co.uk: 'Whoever comes to the village sees that they are coming to a place called Sili. Many people think that is just a bit silly.'
Now after a ballot a majority of villagers have voted in favour of changing the Welsh version of the name to Abersili, which doesn't sound a bit like über-silly, and is not at all funny.
